Mr Paul TREGUER : Scientific Director of EUR-OCEANS, European Network of Excellence

Paul Tréguer is Emeritus Professor at the University of Brest. He founded and was the former Director of the European Institute for Marine Studies at Brest. He presently is the Scientific Director of EUR-OCEANS, a European Network of Excellence. He also is the Chair of Europôle Mer, a Center of Excellence for Marine Sciences and Technologies that federates rhe activities of 15 research organisms and universities of Western Brittany.

Paul Tréguer is expert in marine biogeochemistry. He has participated in 18 oceanographic cruises in the world ocean, with a focus on the North-East Atlantic, on the Southern Ocean and the Pacific Ocean.

So far, he published 84 papers in international peer-review journals including Nature, Science, Global Biogeochemical Cycles, Limnology and Oceanography, Marine Chemistry, etc...

His courses deal with the biogeochemistry of pelagic ecosystems and on the Southern Ocean. In 1986 in co-author with G. Jacques he published a book untitled "Ecosystèmes Pélagiques Marins".

Paul Tréguer also produced a scientific film on "Richesses et perturbations d'un écosystème côtier", awarded in Toulon (1984), in Ostrava (1985), and in Katowice (1985).
